May2008 Drug Protein Targets
polo-like kinase 3 (Drosophila)
This serine/threonine kinase, more commonly known as PLK3, is thought to play a role in the regulation of mitosis and M-phase progression, responses to DNA damage and tumourigenisis. Research has shown interactions with Cdc235C, Chk2 and p53.
- Avalon is developing selective allosteric inhibitors of polo-like kinase 3 (PLK3), as part of their aurora/centrosome pathway inhibitor project, for the treatment of cancer.
- PLK3 belongs to the Enzyme > Kinase Target Family Group and its EC number is 2.7.11.21. Its Entrez Gene ID is 1263.
