BIO-Europe Spring offers a web of opportunities for investors
7th Mar 2007
Italian start-up company Spider Biotech has announced a licensing opportunity for its first, novel antimicrobial multiple antigen peptide (MAP), SB-006, at BIO-Europe Spring in Milan.
Currently in preclinical pharmacokinetic and toxicology studies, SB-006 has demonstrated efficacy against Gram negative and multidrug-resistant bacteria, including Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It has also demonstrated positive results in several murine models of infection, acting to suppress the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and TNF-α.
Other companies announcing licensing opportunities included Noxxon Pharmaceuticals, which is offering all of its preclinical spiegelmer-based therapeutics, and SGX Pharmaceuticals, which advertised an opportunity to collaborate on its MET inhibitor, SGX-523, for the treatment of solid tumours. SGX also announced a future licensing opportunity for its JAK-2 programme, for the treatment of myeloproliferative diseases.
