Additional launch for Dong-A's Zydena
15 May 2009
Dong-A Pharmaceutical has launched its phosphodiesterase V (PDE-V) inhibitor, Zydena (udenafil), in Russia for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. The launch follows confirmation of safety and efficacy in the Korean market, as well as positive results from Phase III trials.
Zydena was previously launched in South Korea in 1996, and has been shown to significantly improve erectile dysfunction with a vaginal penetration success rate and intercourse completion rate of 92 and 76%, respectively.
Zydena is currently awaiting approval in China and is in Phase I trials in the UK. US Phase III trials are expected to initiate in the second half of 2009.
Bayer, Eli Lilly, Pfizer and SK Chemicals have all previously launched PDE-V inhibitors for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
