Richard Branson takes a virgin flight into stem cell therapy

British tycoon Sir Richard Branson is set to expand his global enterprise with the launch of a stem-cell and biotech business.
With stem-cell therapy becoming an exciting, if yet unproven, disease treatment strategy, the Virgin boss plans to make his mark in the fight against incurable diseases and other stem-cell-directed indications.
Not content with the recently launched Virgin Galactic that claims to propel tourism into space, and Virgin Atlantic, which plans to develop environmentally cleaner biofuels, Sir Richard hopes his new venture will allow scientists to store the cells from their child's umbilical cord to be used to potentially treat conditions which may affect them in the future, such as Parkinson's disease and cancer.
There are almost 100 different stem cell therapy projects reported as being in the pipeline.
