Drug Licensing Opportunity Search
Paul Connor is the business development director for a medium-sized drug company in the UK, which is developing two drugs to treat macular degeneration. Both drugs are currently at the pre-clinical development stage. Paul wants to identify companies currently developing similar drugs for this indication. Initially he wants to get a picture of the competition, and then explore any potential drug in-licensing opportunities within this market. Find out below how he uses Pharmaprojects data to investigate drug licensing opportunies.
..see a live demonstration of the drug licensing opportunity search..The most appropriate method for Paul to find drug licensing opportunities is by combining two search criteria; indication and licensing opportunities. He can then use Pharmaprojects to generate a graph of the results.
Indication Criteria

- He clicks Drug Profile Search button.
- Paul then expands 'Activity Data' tree and selects 'Any Indication'.
- He enters 'macular degeneration' in the Find box and selects the term from the indication picklist.
- He then highlights 'Macular Degeneration' and clicks Add button.
Drug Licensing Criteria

- He expands 'Country Data' tree and selects 'Licensing Opportunities'.
- Then selects 'Yes' from Logic drop down.
- Clicks Add button.
Output

- Paul clicks Search button.
- He then clicks Graph button.
- Selects 'Originator' from 'Graph By' drop down.
- He clicks export and saves as a JPG file for inclusion in a drug licensing presentation for his directors.
From this Paul identifies TargeGen and Neurotech as companies that warrant further investigation and uses the licensing contact information in the Pharmaprojets company profiles to find the name of the person he should approach about drug licensing opportunities.
