Advanced Troubleshooting

If you see the above error message when you launch Pharmaprojects on the Web, please select ok and the following dialogue box will appear:

Work through the below steps to troubleshoot this error:
Network Connection
Firstly, please check that your network cable is plugged in, and that ‘Local Area Connection’ is connected (if you can access the internet you should be connected). If your Network connection says it is not connected, but your network cable is plugged into both your computer and the floor/wall socket, then you will need to speak to your system administrator to resolve the connection issue.
If your network connection is working, but you still get the error message when trying to launch Pharmaprojects, the next step is to enter the appropriate details into the dialogue box, and follow the appropriate troubleshooting steps:
If you DO use a proxy server, please select ‘Use the proxy server settings below’, and see ‘Proxy Server Settings’.
If you DON’T use a proxy server, then please select ‘don’t use a proxy server’, and move on to ‘Firewall Exceptions’.
N.B: Please DO NOT select ‘Use Internet Explorer settings’.
Proxy Server Settings
N.B: Please note we highly recommend a system administrator is consulted before changing any settings.
To locate your proxy settings:
(These steps are for use within Microsoft® Internet Explorer, other browsers may vary)
- Open Internet Explorer
- Go to Tools > Internet Options
- Across the top tabs please select ‘Connections’
- Within ‘Connections’ please select ‘LAN Settings’ (at the bottom)
- You will see the following dialogue box appear:

Here is an example of where the proxy settings may be kept. The address and port number are displayed in the bottom half of the box (greyed out in this picture).
The address is displayed in the left hand box, and the port number in the right.
If the details are not in these two boxes, please consult a system administrator for the location of your settings.
N.B: If “use automatic configuration script” is selected (see above picture), you should contact your system administrator. If you enter these details into the Pharmaprojects dialogue box, Pharmaprojects will not work.
Other information required:
Your network administrator should provide you with the appropriate username, password and domain settings for this. In many cases, these details are your network login details.
The following URL needs to be added as an exception to the proxy server:
http://ppweb.pjbpubs.com (Alternatively you can place an exception by IP address: 213.212.67.161)
N.B: Please do not add this to the ‘exceptions’ box in the Pharmaprojects dialogue box. This needs to be added directly to the proxy exceptions by an administrator.
Try accessing Pharmaprojects again, and if you get the same error message try fixing it with a firewall exception (see below).
Firewall Exceptions
Locally installed software firewalls
If you are running Pharmaprojects on a machine that has firewall software installed, Please check that ‘PPWeb.exe’ is added to the exceptions list on your firewall:
C:\Program Files\Pharmaprojects V5\Pharmaprojects V5 (Web)\5.2.3.5
(this is the default file location for Pharmaprojects V5 (Web) – please check with your system administrator if you cannot locate the folder)
Corporate firewalls
If you are running Pharmaprojects on a corporate network you may need to have the following URL registered on the firewall to enable Pharmaprojects to gain access to the internet:-
http://ppweb.pjbpubs.com(Alternatively you can place an exception by IP address: 213.212.67.161)
ISA Servers
If your company uses an ISA server or web cashing server please register the following URL as a location that CANNOT be cached:
http://ppweb.pjbpubs.com (Alternatively you can place an exception by IP address: 213.212.67.161)
