6. What is the difference between Primary and Any?

Searching by Primary therapy, indication (or target name) is very specific and will search for the specific therapy or indication that is most advanced. Any record can only have one primary therapy or therefore if something is launched for breast cancer, colorectal or GI cancers, we will record the indication that was first launched as the primary indication (not necessarily the indication that is expected to have the biggest market size). In addition, when assigning therapeutic groupings to records, biotechnology products and formulations will always have the biotech or formulation term listed as their primary and the therapeutic areas will follow.

Therefore, if you are looking for human monoclonal antibodies that are in development for cancer, the primary therapy will be recorded as "Antibody, monoclonal, human" and the cancer therapeutic classification will be added as a secondary (other) therapeutic area.

Searching by primary therapy or indication, you to conduct very specific, refined searches but you may find that you are not getting all the hits you expect.

In order to ensure that your search is comprehensive and will pick up records that include the therapy/indication or target that you are looking for, we recommend that you use the ANY search terms:
